Past and present

I know, this kinda sucks -OK, OK, it totally does- but I wanted to give it a try XD

The girl in the front would be me (more or less ) in my uniform, and the lady on the background is supposed to be Florence Nightingale.

Now, for those who don't know, Lady Nightingale is considered the mother of all nurses. She was a higly intelligent woman, she was hard-working and was not afraid to stand up against anyone for the good of her patients. In fact, she dedicated her whole life to others, becoming a real heroine in England and in the whole world. She also established important rules about how nurses should behave, how hospitals should be organized, and many other things. She also founded her own Nursing School, since she firmly believed that nurses needed a proper education, in order to offer the best service they could to the patients (and that was really important, because at the time, hospitals were dirty and the patients lived in terrible conditions, and nurses were mainly alchoholics, drug addicted or inmates, and had no education AT ALL).
The fact she is carrying a lamp, is because she is also known as "The Lady with the Lamp", since she always visited her patients even during the night, carrying a lantern

The idea of drawing this scene came to me this afternoon, as I was fixing my notes (as you can probably tell by now, I'm a university student, studying to become a nurse). I read about Florence Nightingale again, and once more I was moved by her passion and dedication to her job and, above all, her patients. I think becoming like her would be the greatest goal of all in my future career, and I wish i will have her strenght and bravery when I will meet my patients (which is in a few days ).

I am sorry the drawing came out so weird and creepy, though XD It was my first time with this tecnique I will remake this, when I find some time, I promise XD
