Ratigan and Niky - Friends in race - Part 10: An happy ending

Ratigan's mouth dropped open. He couldn't believe it. The time devilgirl had to exit Niky's body was over, and she hadn't came back in time. That meant she would soon started to grow into Niky's body, untill she killed her.
He wrapped his arms around his friend's body, hugged her close and started to cry.

"Oh, Niky" he cried "My dear, little mouse... I... I'm sorry! I promised you to protect you, and I failed... I failed, and now you're dying, and it's all my fault!"

The rat was crying all his tears, desperate, when he suddently felt someone putting a hand on his shoulder. he started for the surprise, and quickly turned around. And he couldn't believe what he saw.

"Devilgirl!" he exclaimed "What...?"

The girl smiled widely, and hugged him close "Don't worry, Ratigan" she said "I managed to exit Niky's body just in time. I took another platelette to reach the cut on her finger and I jumped out just before the time was out! But I was so small that you didn't see me!" she giggled

"That...That means...?" he asked, in desbelief

"Yes..."

Ratigan's ears peecked up, as he heard a soft moan. He turned around and saw Niky was moving.

The girl blinked a couple of times, then rose her head. She turned around, and looked at her friends "Hi guys" she smiled softly "Why are you staring at me like that?"

Ratigan and Devilgirl looked at eachother, then hugged Niky at once

The girl giggled happly, glad to see her friends again "Thank you, guys... Thank you for saving me..."

Ratigan was holding Niky in his arms. It was night, and she had fallen asleep in his arms. He had worried so much for her, and was so grateful to Devilgirl who risked so much to save her...

"Sleep now, little mouse" he whispered to niky, caressing her hair "Everything is allright now..."

Then he closed his eyes, relaxed his head against the pillow and fell asleep.

Devilgirl was in her room, looking out from the window. She was happy everything had ended up well. She thought about Thrax. He was dead. Finally, she had defeated her old enemy. She laid on her bed, and sighed. Then she fell asleep too, with a soft smile on her face.
